BIO

Miriam Mas, a Canadian artist born in Barcelona, began painting in her late twenties a few years after moving to Ontario, Canada, in 1988. Using a basic oil painting kit that her parents gifted her, she started painting as a hobby in 1997. She registered with the Ottawa School of Art to take an oil painting course and with the Ottawa Continuing Education for a Life Drawing course. Gradually, she had an increased number of art collectors with interest in her artwork.

Miriam describes painting as her true passion. Using oil as her medium, she easily loses track of time working on her paintings. Her subjects vary from figure painting to nature scenes, farm and country life, still life, and what calls her interest. She loves capturing candid everyday moments.

Her hope is to share her artwork with others who may feel a connection to her pieces, perhaps evoking a memory or a distant sentiment or emotion.

Currently she is represented at Studio87 Gallery in Perth, Ontario and looking into expanding to additional galleries.

Miriam describes painting as having a strange magic. In her words: "It is like a beautiful poem or rhyme that you can always look at and never tires you. I love the excitement of starting a new painting, the process of creating one, and placing the final strokes on the canvas.”
